- Tell me a bit about yourself
Hi, my name is Silja and I live in a little country called Estonia (Europe). I try to keep it short, noone reads long posts, do they? Why are you all so busy? Go take a walk!
- What is the name of your Shop?
It is 5Erg. I should think of something more catchy, my signature looks like a barcode!
- Please describe your creative process
My three types of activities at my desk are – needle felting, making jewelry and painting/drawing.
Even when I wake up 6AM my creative part of the brain doesn’t wake up before 6PM. Best hours are between 12-4AM. I don’t know why it is so. Maybe because it is so quiet and nice at night.
I love listening to music in background, but I paint MUCH worse when there is music so I try to work in total silence. It goes only for painting and such.
- Where do your ideas come from?
When I am busy at school or work I get a lot of ideas. So the fact that I am in harness makes me think of all the things I can’t do at the moment:) But I do write those ideas down for later use.
Also people inspire me. When I walk alone I notice all kinds of people. When I look at someone I get these images in my head about different situations where the person has been or where she/he is going to be. So for example, a wild looking person can inspire me to make leopard dotted jewelry.
- How did you get into your craft?
I just found them on the Internet. I mean needle felting and beads. And everybody draws when they are kids I just never got rid of that habit.
- Apart from creating things, what do you do?
It is my second year at the University, I take 50%-50% Chemistry and Biology classes. I could and should spend more time on that too I guess. But I don’t.
- How do you promote your work?
Projectwonderful, Linkreferral, my Blog. I must think of a strategy. Then I could make all of this promotion thing work for me better. At the moment I just try to make some random people see my shop with an ad here and there and a comment here and there.
