My name is Vanessa and I currently live in Austin, TX with my husband and 2 furbabies.

• Please describe your creative process

I get ideas for my creations throughout the day from different images, people or places. I have a full time job so unfortunately I can’t create all day but when I come home from a long day of work, my creativity has become my stress reliever. After I get an idea for a design I will usually browse several online shops to see what I can use to make my creation come to life. Usually my design will change as I’m creating and coming up with new ideas.

• Where do your ideas come from?

My dad inspires me. He has always been a very creative person and loves giving people his creations. He taught me the importance and benefits of creativity. I will usually get 20 ideas just walking through a craft store or browsing an online bead store. I got the idea for my little birdie cards when we had a nest full of baby birds outside of our door. I love anything and everything crafty but my current obsession is jewelry and handmade cards.

• How did you get into your craft?

I have enjoyed anything and everything crafty since I was a little girl- thanks to my dad and grandmother!

• Apart from creating things, what do you do?

I work in the foster care/adoption field as an adoption specialist. Creating things is my stress reliever!

• How do you promote your work?

I promote my shop in my Blog, flickr account, facebook page and in the Etsy Jewelry Design Shops Blog. I also leave “Designs by Vanessa” postcards anywhere I can.
