Lisa’s Interview
- What is the name of your Shop?
The name of my shop is Buffalo Nerd Project (BNP for short). It is entirely fitting since I am a Buffalo native (I live on Long Island now, though I would totally love to head back up there at some point!), I am definitely a nerd (my day job is working as a technician in a biology lab), and selling my wares is truly an exciting project for me!
- What is your name?
My name is Lisa. I was named after a little girl on a telethon. I swear to God. Funny, huh?
- What types of items do you sell?
I sell different sewn accessories, some of them from recycled materials (cast-offs saved from thrift shops and given new life!). I make mittens out of sweaters, bags out of pants, and other things like ipod cozies and scarves.
How did you get into your craft?
I started sewing as a kid when my grandmother gave me some of her old sewing scraps from her crafts. My mom gave me a needle and some thread and I was off! I learned to use the sewing machine not long after that, though it was tough to haul it around myself at that age since it was an old one made from metal.
- Where does your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from my love to sew and create fun things. Sure, pants bags might not be the newest idea on the block, but I try to pick crazy pants to make them out of, as well as fun linings and buttons to make them unique. My inspiration also comes from my love of science, which I’m trying to incorporate more into my store this year.
